“Send a Kid to Camp” Event

It’s easy to help!

For the next few months we will preparing for YMCA Camp Weaver’s Annual “Send a Kid to Camp” Kick-Off event fundraiser (and there are a few easy ways you can help!)

 

Our Annual Giving Campaign “Send a Kid to Camp” program provides scholarships for underserved, underprivileged, deserving kids to attend summer camp and participate in valuable outdoor education opportunities. Many children never have the opportunity to experience the magic of camp and it is our goal to ensure that every child has this opportunity. Camp helps kids to do better in school, lessening the detrimental effects of summer learning loss and builds invaluable self-confidence.

 

We are currently collecting donations of items for our silent auction. We already have many exciting items like tickets to Disney, a cabin stay in the NC mountains, locally made crafts, Merlefest tickets, gift cards to restaurants, etc. but we still need many more items!

 

If you’d be willing to contact your crafty friends, local businesses, artists, sports organizations, etc. to help us collect items (or would like to donate something personally) please let us know. I can provide you with “ask” materials detailing our fundraiser. Here is a link to examples of auction item ideas.

 

Donors will gain exposure via our social media accounts and announcements at the event as a thank you for their support.

The following is a snapshot of YMCA Camp Weaver’s achievements in 2016:
  • 350 scholarships awarded to attend day and overnight camp sessions
  • 240 overnight campers participated in financial literacy camp
  • 165 Military campers were served, across the southeast with priority given to children of a disabled, wounded or fallen parents
  • Partnered with community organizations including Children’s Home Society, Partnership Village and Habitat for Humanity
Our fundraiser is March 9, 2017 at the Revolution Mill Events Center in Greensboro.
