Summer Season

Counselor in Training Overnight Summer Camp

Learn how to be a teen mentor

Learn how to be a teen mentor with YMCA Camp Weaver’s Counselor in Training Overnight Summer Camp experience. This camp challenges teens and teaches them key leadership skills that they can take with them wherever life takes them. Teens will explore and identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as connect with their peers in the program.

YMCA Camp Weaver provides a safe place for teens to work on real-life skills such as independence, time management and group work while teens engage and mentor younger campers.

Registration will open Nov. 5th.

Program Details

Our Counselor in Training (CIT) program is available as a three-week overnight session for campers 16 to 17 years old. It is preferred that campers attended the Leader in Training Overnight Summer Camp prior to registering for Counselors in Training. We believe that these youth are the future of Camp Weaver. They are encouraged to work together to learn the skills needed to become positive role models, in both our camp and the community.

intensive training in childcare skills
The first two weeks of our CIT Program are focused on intensive training in childcare skills and our various activity areas around camp. During the last week of the program, CITs are placed into cabins with some of our very best staff serving as their mentors for the week. Our top-scoring CITs will be among the first candidates that will be considered for staff the following year.

In this three-week program, it is required for all CITs to stay over for the first weekend of their session and to go home for the second weekend.
